Dr. LaShawn McMillan
Greetings! The 2018 - 2019 school year marks my 7th year as the Principal of Ashford Park Elementary. While I have been a Principal for 12 years, I still get excited about the start of another school year. Just like you, I realize that the possibilities are endless for our students, and I am pumped about the wonderful things that we will do together to support all children at Ashford Park. Our school is on fire right now, and I am committed to keeping the flame burning!
For the 2018 - 2019 school year, we will continue to refine the processes that have proven to have a positive impact on student learning. You will continue to see:
* A focus on Writing Across the Curriculum
* Math compacting in grades 3 - 5
* A focus on PBIS as a means to recognize our students for positive
* The integration of STEM and STEM projects among all grade levels
* A focus on numbers & operations, data & measurement, and number
talks in all classrooms
Parents, I look forward to working with you this year as we join together to ensure that all of our students are successful. Thank you in advance for your support!

Greetings Ashford Park School Family! It is my honor and pleasure to serve as Assistant Principal! It is no secret that my passion is instruction, and I am eager and excited to continue the work of raising student achievement! It is my goal to ensure that every child receives sound instruction through rigor and differentiation. Additionally, my goal is to work alongside the school administration and teachers as we meet students where they are academically and take them to higher levels in all content areas. We will do this by consistently looking at student data to determine strengths, areas for growth, and following an action plan to individualize instruction.
In the 2018-2019 schoo year, we will continue to build our German Immersion Program through 5th Grade and increase students' knowledge in STEM. In the area of English Language Arts (ELA), we will expand student's writing skills and focus on Lexile measures, in an effort to match students to their specific reading level. Also, we will take a deeper dive into Math focusing on Geometry, Measurement & Data, and Numbers & Operations. Lastly, we will continue to build digital dreamers by using Chromebooks and technology, on a daily basis, in every classroom.
I look forward to working with all stakeholders as we partner together to make Ashford Park and our students the best that they can possibly be! We are: Exceptional Achievers Growing and Learning Everyday (EAGLES)! Thank you so much for your support!
